Fafach Family Christmas Letter

December 13, 2003

God bless you dear friends and family!

Luke: 10 yr,. Highlights of my year were: Amtrak trip with Mom to California to see relatives, Sea World, Marina’s wedding, Monterey Bay Aquariums, tide pools, San Francisco bay on a boat; we ate fresh crab on the wharf, rode the cable car to Chinatown and saw
live frogs, Ghiradeli Chocolate Factory, and Golden Gate Bridge. I went to camp in Durango where Danny was my counselor, there were doughnuts, and we had Bible lessons, swam, rode horses, played Capture-the-Flag, and shot BB guns and archery. I have fun home schooling and ice-skating, and am in charge of the goats.

Delchi: I graduated last year and spent a year working as a structural Engineer, turning Architectural drawings (building shapes) into building plans. I calculated the size and spacing of every wood, steel and concrete structural element of the buildings I worked on. Last month I left that position for a research position at CU Boulder while I complete my Masters degree. It is a great situation! My tuition is waived and I receive a monthly salary. I also have the privilege of sharing an office with research Engineers from Italy and the Far East. The thesis resulting from my project will be used by the Colorado Department of Transportation to improve the quality and longevity of the bridges you drive over!

Polly: I have no greater joy than to know that our children walk with Jesus. They are a constant encouragement to us; we treasure them! I get to train Luke and send the men off daily.I will miss Danny and his gentle and fun spirit greatly, but am thrilled that he gets to be with dear friends in Cambodia. I love to play guitar with our sons on their violins. Every day is a gift from the great I AM, the “I will be to you all that I AM.” I want to be in His Word, to live in His power and His love.

The Papa: This year, I will defer my space to the Apostle John …
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men … He was the true Light which gives light to every man …He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth… And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known.

Danny: I had another great summer at Cross Bar X this year. In the spring I had a very full semester with lots of hard classes and lots of ultimate frisbee tournaments. I made it onto the CU ultimate frisbee A-team last season on the starting defensive line and we traveled to tournaments in Utah, North Carolina, Kansas, Texas, and two in San Diego. We won Sectionals pretty easily, playing teams from some of our neighboring states. We were ranked third going into the Regionals tournament in San Diego, and had two excruciatingly close wins against the two teams above us to win the tournament and get a spot at Nationals in Austin, Texas. Dad and Mom drove down and got to see us fight our way through the heat and humidity to the semi-finals, where we lost to Wisconsin, getting more points against them than any other team did at the tournament, including the team that lost to them in the finals the next day. The four teams in the semis where ranked second, third, fourth, and eleventh – that was us! So officially we tied for third or fourth in the nation, making for a great end to my collegiate frisbee career :)
I recently graduated from CU with a Computer Science engineering degree and a linguistics minor. I am not planning on getting a full time computer job any time soon however, and on January 8th I will be flying to Cambodia! I will be living
with friends of ours (a missionary family with 12 kids) until June, teaching a math class and a science class in English to junior high kids in at Logos International School. The school was started for orphans and has both American and Cambodian students. It is becoming accredited internationally. The students all speak English so I will not have to teach in Khmer :>
Cambodia is currently in a pretty desperate state. It is estimated that more than 2 million people died during the reign of the Khmer Rouge in the 1970’s, including most who were educated or had any strong religious convictions. Cambodia has one of the lowest rates of health care in the world. It is estimated that 1 of every 243 Cambodians has been maimed by a land mine. 1/3 of Cambodian children will never attend school and less than 3% will finish 12th grade. Almost ½ of Cambodian women cannot read. Cambodia is 95% Buddhist and only 1/10 of 1% of the population is Christian. Most Cambodians have never heard the name of Jesus. I will be working with Cambodian Outreach Project (www.CambodianOutreachProject.org) to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of the Cambodian people.
In June I plan to go next-door to Thailand to serve with a friend of ours there who works with a ministry to college students. I will probably come back to the States in July or August, but who knows – maybe I will stay in Thailand or go back to Cambodia or head off somewhere else! I currently have part-time computer work which I plan to continue over seas to help support myself. My long-term plans are to be a full-time missionary to some unreached people group.
I am very excited to be at this point in my life – having no full time secular work or school to absorb most of my time and getting to head off to the other side of the world to spread the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Danny will be posting his news on this website.
